Who doesn’t like Steak or Chicken? Kansas City meal boxes consist of Steak and Chicken, twice baked potatoes and a yummy sweet treat. Just enough to feed you and a guest or two. Don’t forget to invite a guest or two since you will have extra food.
Josh Matthews drove to his work site every morning for several weeks. Each time he would pass by a snow cone place sitting in a parking lot that is considered the “Heart of Texas.” Over the course of a couple of weeks he stopped and got more information about the area and their hopes for building up the small community. Feed the Need Missions was mentioned in conversation and the Justin team was offered a grassy spot in the corner parking lot.
Josh wrestled with the idea of moving the site but in prayer and confirmation between him and Site Coordinator Daniel, they took the offer and were approved to begin serving the community. The first week they began serving meals a man stopped and offered a financial donation to Feed the Need Missions. “If we weren’t at that location we would probably have missed that opportunity,” Josh and Daniel agreed.
This site is now meeting at:
PARKING LOT OF JUSTIN STATE BANK
412 S HWY 156 N
Justin, TX 76247
Join them every Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm for a hot meal and discipleship.
Seven year old Kate wanted to make some money this summer for her own spending, but also to give back to her community. Exploring ideas, she decided to use her creativity to make bracelets. Faithful community members came together to support Kate’s entrepreneurial spirit and bought several bracelets for her to pass out to people visiting our Bastrop sites. Kate just wanted to put a smiles on people’s faces.
“Well, I wanted to make bracelets because I thought it would be fun way to earn money and I just thought people would like it. I know a lot of people I know support Feed the Need Missions, and I thought they would like the opportunity to support Feed the Need Missions and get a bracelet too!
I’m glad I was able give bracelets to people at Feed the Need Missions because it seemed to brighten their day.”
Kate spent her money wisely while tithing to her church and giving money to Feed the Need Missions to continue feeding people physically and spiritually. Thank you, Kate for giving back and supporting Feed the Need Missions. If you would like to give back like Kate, click this LINK to read more about ways you can give.
As school approaches there is so much anxiety of the unknowns due to COVID. As one mom says, “School is an outlet for my kids to have social activity and to make friends, and I don’t want to take anymore from them.”
We at Feed the Need Missions knows the implication of going back to school. And some families struggling making the decision to homeschool. Some that we serve have even lost their jobs and are in desperate need for assistance. However the anxiety of school starting is a challenging time. We will continue to serve during this challenging time feeding people physically and spiritually and offering prayer.
As we wind down from summer and decisions are being made we are praying for you! A mom who we serve that has asthma and high risk children said, “My older daughter and I both have asthma, and we don’t feel comfortable taking that risk. As a single mom I need your prayers on making the best decision for our family.”

After weeks of splashing in the sun, and going on vacations, educators and children are heading back to school. As we enter into a new school year, we ask that you join us in prayer. For some students, school is a safe place away from home, and for others it’s filled with fear. This year as we move forward with COVID, school may look a little different for students and teachers. We ask for the 2020-2021 school year that all students and educators (including parents) are covered in prayer throughout the world.
We are blessed to have educators to pour into our students. To teach them, to love them, to show compassion and mercy. But now we also have parents who are being educators at home because of COVID. We thank you all for the time spent investing in your/our children.
Here’s a few bible verses to help guide you in prayer:
1. Pray for Peace (Isaiah 26:3; Philippians 4:6-7; Romans 5:1).
2. Pray for Protection (2 Thessalonians 3:3; Psalm 46:1; John 17:15; Psalm 91)
3. Prayers for Perspective (Galatians 2:20; Matthew 28:18-20; Philippians 1:21; Colossians 3:1-2; Ephesians 3:17-20)
4. Pray that the students and educators will develop an eternal perspective and purpose, not an earthly one. Help them to see life–and every challenge–through His eyes.
Thank you for joining us in prayer.
Pray with us this summer as our staff and volunteers continue serving.
Loving God, Creator of all times and places, we thank you for the gift of summertime,
the days of light, warmth and leisure.
As we open our eyes and ears to the landscape of nature and people, open our hearts to receive all as a gift. Give us that insight to see you as the Divine Artist. Help us to realize and appreciate that you are laboring to keep all in existence.
And warm our souls with the awareness of your presence. Let all the gifts we enjoy this summer
deepen our awareness of your love so that we may share this with others and enjoy
a summertime of re-creation and building your kingdom.
This is our prayer for everyone we serve with, donors, guests, and prayer warriors. And for our cities. states, and countries.
Extreme heat is a period of high heat and humidity with temperatures above 90 degrees for at least two to three days. In extreme heat your body works extra hard to maintain a normal temperature, which can lead to death. In fact, extreme heat is responsible for the highest number of annual deaths among all weather-related hazards.
Remember:
– Extreme heat can occur quickly and without warning.
– Older adults, children and sick or overweight individuals are at greater risk from extreme heat.
– Humidity increases the feeling of heat as measured by a heat index.
Feed the Need Missions will continue serving water during the summer to our guests and volunteers. Stop by our sites for a cold refreshment and splash yourself at our hand washing station to cool down.
As COVID continues to make its way through our communities it have given our volunteers more time to spend with individuals and families while they are sitting in their vehicle waiting to be served food, and even some on foot. Rebecca said, “ We pray with people and chat with them as much as we can.”
Summer is here and can be a hindrance to everyone we serve. “I can’t imagine living on the streets with the heat and not knowing what to do,” she said. “Gil who has been on and off the streets is having a lot of medical issues, especially with his heart and his doctor is concerned with being on the streets in the heat.”
Our Bastrop North site is now cooking on site and continue to serve “to-go” style. Rebecca has been able to witness more to Gil and pray for him while she serves him and serves with him. She’s been spending more time walking with him during his health crisis. “Pray for our friend. I am thankful to be able to serve and to be there for him,” she said.
We are going to be super creative today and make homemade scones with homemade buttermilk. This is a fun recipe to get your kids involved, and then take it to the table to have Bible time over breakfast with your family.
