#GivingTuesday is Back

As the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping deals wrap up, #GivingTuesday is a reminder to slow down and give back to those in your community.

This #GivingTuesday, we hope to take time to check out our Community Stories and learn a little more about how Feed the Need Missions is making a difference in the lives of so many people in our communities. We also hope that you consider giving a gift so that we can continue to serve in these communities every week.

It’s easy to give today, simply click here to make a donation online.

We are so thankful for our generous donors, and appreciate your support this holiday season.

Other Ways to Give

You can also increase your giving impact in the following ways:

Sign up for AmazonSmile. Many of the gifts you are planning to purchase this holiday season qualify for AmazonSmile and you can even use your current Amazon account. Simply go to smile.amazon.com, select Feed the Need Missions as your default organization, and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to us.

Check with your employer to see if they match donations. This can double or even triple the financial donations or even volunteer hours you generously give to Feed the Need Missions! Search here to see if this is something your employer offers or check with your HR department and ask about matching employee donations.

Give through other revenues. Take a look at our Ways to Give page to learn more about giving to Feed the Need Missions through stocks, planned giving, and more. And feel free to contact us if you have any questions about these various ways to make a difference in our communities.

Thanksgiving Happenings: Updates

Thanksgiving Day

On Thanksgiving Day our Feed the Need Justin site will be serving Thanksgiving dinner to it’s community. The site will be having a potluck style classic Thanksgiving Dinner from 5pm-6pm. If you’re in the Ft Worth area and you and your family need a hot meal or a place to serve on Thanksgiving, join us at 415 N College Avenue Justin, TX at the Justin City Park.

Thanksgiving Boxed Dinner Giveaway

Feed the Need Missions had the opportunity to partner with Primera Baptist Church this past weekend and provided 220 turkeys for their food pantry distribution. In addition, each Feed the Need site in the Bastrop Area registered families for Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway meals. With your help, we were able to make 140 meal bags and pass out another 210 turkeys, for a total of 430 turkeys.

One dad that stopped by recently lost his job, and he was so thankful to be able to still provide a Thanksgiving meal for his family. His family thanks everyone who has been a part of Feed the Need. “I can’t believe you did this,” his son said while helping him with groceries to his van.

What a blessing it is to know that many families will be able to cook a Thanksgiving meal together!

Thank You for a Successful Event!

Our 2017 Feed the Need Annual Gala was a huge success! Thank you to all who attended this packed out event.

This year’s event raised $32,000, even more than last year! We are now almost to the halfway point of meeting our goal of $200,000 to cover our Bastrop-area sites for next year. We’ve also raised about 30% of our overall budget for next year and are so thankful for everyone’s support.

If you weren’t able to attend our event, it’s not too late to give. Would you consider making a monthly commitment of $20 or even $100? Your generosity will make a difference in so many people’s lives now and for the year to come. Simply click the donate button at the bottom to give today.

At the event, we also shared a big announcement. Mission U-Too is changing its name to Feed the Need Missions! We are so excited about this new chapter and hope you are too. Check out the video below with our new logo and our heart for our organization. You can read more about this change from our president, here.

If you would like a head start on getting some Feed the Need Missions apparel, head to our online store and stock up today. There are some great new t-shirt designs, as well as aprons, hats, and jackets embroidered with our new logo.

We are so thankful to all of you who support our organization and help spread the love and message of Christ. It was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces at our event this past weekend, and we are so looking forward to seeing what God does through your generosity this next year.

Thank you to Laura Larsen for the photos of the event.

Serving Christmas Meals

Christmas time is here! The holiday season doesn’t stop Mission U-Too from serving every week. What a great way to spread Christmas cheer and to proclaim the gospel. One of the best ways to proclaim the gospel is through serving others in practical ways. We have two Mission U-Too locations serving on Christmas Day. We’d love for you to come join us and help serve those in need for the holidays and be a blessing to your community!

Mission U-Too Locations:

Giddings: 190 N Harris in Giddings from 5:00-6:00 pm. Set up starts at 4:00.
Bastrop North: 603 Linden St in Bastrop from 5:00-6:00 pm. Set up starts at 4:00.

“Though he was in the form of God he did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”   ~Philippians 2:6-8

Be amazed at the ways Jesus has served his people. When you see Jesus serving you even to the point of death, you’ll be willing to serve others in radical ways.

Come be a part this year by serving in your community or join us by serving at one of the two listed locations. Have a blessed Christmas! We look forward to serving with you.

A Mission U-Too Thanksgiving

The holidays are here and we are thankful for you! What a great time of year to come and serve the community of Smithville.

Mission U-Too’s Smithville site has been serving on Thanksgiving Day for the past four years. Because the site’s “normal” serving day is Thursday, we are blessed to continue to serve on Thanksgiving day. But instead of the normal burgers you might find, our volunteers serve a full on Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings.

A Mission U-Too Thanksgiving Story

Our second year of serving the Smithville community and building relationships as a community, a gentleman by the name of Mike who has lived in Smithville almost all of his life, asked us if we were serving on Thanksgiving. Mike had been coming every week, but his question stood out to us. Mike didn’t have much and he had no family close by to celebrate the holidays with. We realized many others might be in the same situation as him so we decided that regardless of the weather or holiday we will still serve on that day.

We showed up Thanksgiving Day and we started setting up for our meal. Little did we know that the community of Smithville and Bastrop came together and surprised us with a full Thanksgiving feast. We still cooked some burgers and hot dogs.

When our friend Mike, arrived to the site he was excited to see a feast waiting before him. “I have never seen the Smithville community come together. I can’t believe this. I had no money for food this week, now I will have plenty.” What a blessing it was to come together as a community without asking for anything and Jesus provided the entire meal. Mike went home with some leftovers to feed him at least through the weekend.

How You Can Help

Bring your family and come serve with us from 5:00-6:00 pm on Thanksgiving day at The Neighborhood Place on MLK and 95 in Smithville, TX. Share your love and the gospel with our friends from Smithville. Also if you know a family in need of a hot Thanksgiving meal, please let them know where they can come. We would love to have an abundance to share the holidays with.

If you would like to help with food, please contact Brittanie at 512-575-5289 for needed items.

We THANK YOU for your generosity, prayer, and servant hearts during the holidays.

Hunger Run: Thank You!

Thank you to Legacy Church for coordinating a Hunger Run event!  This took place Saturday April 2 in the morning where members from Legacy Church and the community gathered to run a 5K and/or family fun run to raise money for the Round Rock location.

Hunger Run: Thank You! | Mission U-Too

Both race options benefited Mission U-Too to help feed people Physically and Spiritually in the community of Round Rock where we give away free meals every Saturday. 100% of the proceeds raised went to Mission U-Too Round Rock.

We appreciate your support, hard work and talent in making this event a success. And THANK YOU to the runners who ran to fight for hunger.
