The ushering in of fall brings many a sense of joy and thanksgiving. For Debbie and Lewis, our Giddings site leaders, this is no exception. This season has brought special change for them that we are excited to share. The Giddings site is newly reopened with a brand new location and schedule!

“I’m so excited that we are open,” Debbie shared. She shared that she is eager to see the ministry blossom here over the coming weeks. “Once we have the consistency of being there week after week, the neighborhood will be able to trust that we will continue to be there weekly,” she shared. “Since everything is so different, it’s giving everyone a chance to get more familiar with a new way of doing things.”

Come check out the new site this Sunday! Serve with us and stay for a burger. Set up begins at 4:30 p.m. and dinner service begins at 5:30 p.m. Visit our updated Giddings site page and stay up to date with the latest news and updates!

Our new Feed the Need Giddings Address:
Simmang Park

Giddings, TX 78942

From now until the end of the year we will be sharing stories from each of our sites across Texas. Every site has the same mission: to feed people physically and spiritually. We see God using our volunteers and those that come to grow and build relationships with those in Christ. Here are just a few of the stories from our sites this past year.

GIDDINGS serves every Sunday starting at 5:00pm at Giddings Food Pantry located at 190 North Harris, Giddings, TX 78942.

Lewis & Debbie

Lewis and Debbie have been married for 46 years. They have two biological children and two adopted. They heard about Feed the Need Mission through Ridgeway Baptist Church where they are currently attending. “Part of our gifting from God has been hospitality, it’s almost like a natural instinct for us to help,” Debbie said. “When we heard about the ministry and the weekly feeding of feeding people both physically and spiritually, we both looked at each other and this is what we’ve been waiting for. For a ministry where we can help other people outside of church.”

Being together for over 50 years they love that they can serve together and grow together. “We get more out of Feed the Need Missions than what we give in to the ministry,” she said with tears in her eyes. They are in love with the ministry and enjoy sharing their past stories to help others in their own situations.

“I just can’t explain how it makes us feel, it’s God’s glow” they said with excitement. “Being able to talk about Jesus and meeting a physical need changes people. We have grown so much together as a couple. It’s a great reminder of being united. First with God, then our marriage, and now together we can minister to those in need.”

When you give to support our communities, people’s hearts and lives are being changed.

With your help, Feed the Need Missions will continue to provide a hot meal and share the love and message of Christ to those in our communities each week.

Can you help Feed the Need Missions continue serving each week by making a generous contribution of $25, $50, or $100 today? Without your generosity, people like Lewis and Debbie, might not get to hear about the love of the gospel and what it truly means to have people who love and support you where you are.

Don’t delay, give now and make a difference in your community today.

GIDDINGS Serves every Sunday starting at 5:00pm at Giddings Food Pantry located at 190 North Harris, Giddings, TX 78942.

Kathy

Kathy is 64, lives with her son, his girlfriend and her two children. “I couldn’t make it on my own,” Kathy explained, “I’m on disability and if it wasn’t for my son, I don’t know what I would do.” Kathy comes to Feed the Need Missions on Sunday nights in Giddings when they don’t have enough to eat at home. Kathy is not one of those faces we see each week at the site.

Feed the Need Missions helps to fill the gap for Kathy and her family when times are tough. “My son has a job, works full time, but by the time bills are paid there’s not much left over for us to buy groceries.” Lately, Kathy has been a regular at the site because the family is in one of those tight seasons. She walks to the site often with Shawna, the daughter of her son’s girlfriend, to get a meal; sometime two meals for the family. “It’s nice knowing I can always come here and get something to eat,” Kathy shared.

Kathy is not a believer, however it is evident the Lord is working during this tough time. We are praying for Kathy and her family to come to know the love, truth, and grace found in Jesus. We know God can do great things even with something as simple as a hamburger.

Barbara

“I’ve been coming since the beginning,” Barbara says, with a smile on her face and joy in her eyes. At first glance you would not see the hurt Barbara is currently facing. Barbara is dealing with abandonment and going through a divorce.

Barbara joins us weekly in Giddings and has done so since April of 2014. She comes and updates us weekly with how life is going. The good and the bad, the ups and the downs. Barbara caught on quickly what Feed the Need Missions is all about.

She loves our burgers, but it isn’t just the hot meal she comes for. Feed the Need Missions is a place of hope and encouragement for Barbara. “I know when I have nothing to eat I can come here to eat and get the support and prayer I need. I try to make it each week for the time of prayer,”  she explains.

Joseph is a young man from Alabama. At just barely 17 years old (currently 18), and trying to figure out the direction of his life, he moved to Texas. He heard about Feed the Need Missions from a friend of his, who invited him to the 2017 Patriotic Festival where we were serving.

He didn’t realize this was going to become a part of his Sunday afternoons. Joseph now flips burgers at our Giddings location. “I love to see smiles on their faces when they come for food. Their genuine smiles that you don’t see when you run into them in public settings,” he said.

Joseph has connected with several of the guests that are coming through the line. One guest that has impacted him the most is Isidra Morales. Isidra sees Jesus through all her struggles. And because of the struggles Joseph has faced in life, he’s reminded by her that, “Jesus has always been there.”

“Feed the Need Missions has helped me with my relationship with Christ. It’s my new family. I enjoy being with the volunteers and their excitement about serving and being Christ like!” he said with excitement.

Every week until the end of the year we will be sharing stories from each of our six communities. Each of our communities serve anyone who stops by, but we have noticed that at each site similar stories start to pop up. We see God using our volunteers and those that come to grow and build relationships with those in Christ. Here are just a few of the stories from our location in Giddings.

GIDDINGS serves on average 150+ meals every Sunday at the Giddings Food Pantry. There is so much brokenness within families and people in the community. We have been able to take the time to listen, build trust, and teach about forgiveness. This has allowed the community to be able to grow healthy relationships.

KATHI

Kathi serves at our Giddings location. Being in a wheel chair and not able to serve at most places, she found herself overjoyed to be able to serve.

Kathi was adopted to a loving Italian family at a young age. She was taught how to cook by her adoptive father who she dearly adored. “I wasn’t always treated the best as a child and I became bitter as I got older. I needed something more positive in my life.”

Previously coming from a church that didn’t serve the community other than trying to get people signed up for their beliefs, Kathi realized that “it’s not about brownie points or doing good things.” She now attends a church that cares for and accepts people for who they are. It is through her new church where she heard about Feed the Need Missions.

“I needed a place I could serve around positive people. I sit in my wheelchair, serve the community and share a smile. Being here brings a glow to me and warms my heart. I try to treat people the way I want to be treated. When I’m in a bad mood I just remember those that have it worse than I do. This place has helped me realize I am blessed and not to feel sorry for myself.”

Kathi came wanting community and a place she could get involved. And she has now found a place where she can serve. “You guys even lower one of the tables for me so I can serve. You don’t have to do, but you choose to, that’s Christ love,” she said.

THE GARCIA FAMILY

The Garcia Family has been serving at our Giddings location for two years. They live on the outskirts of Giddings in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Adrianna (mom) and Jose (dad) have four children: Pablo, Adrianna, Angela and Jose. They attend a local Catholic church in Giddings.

Feed the Need Missions started out serving the family. Then after a few weeks the kids would serve while mom observed. A few months passed and Mrs. Garcia started serving with her children, and now Mr. Garcia comes to grill.

Angela (9 years old) said, “I like to come for the people. And the burger too, but I like to serve.” Mrs. Garcia takes the leftover food and gives it out to their community. She gives so much to those in her community while they struggle themselves. Mrs. Garcia has also opened her home to several of the volunteers for many occasions, even despite the language barrier.

This is the kind of difference you are making when you give to support our communities.  With your help, Feed the Need Missions will continue to provide a safe place people like Kathi and The Garcia Family can gather for a hot meal each week, a place where you see the love of Christ in action.

Can you help Feed the Need Missions continue serving each week by making a generous contribution of $25, $50, or $100 today? And if you give by the end of the year, thanks to a generous matching gift, your donation will be DOUBLED—up to $12,000—to make an even larger impact in the lives of so many people in our communities.

So don’t delay, give today so you can DOUBLE your gift and help even more people like Mike experience unconditional love.

Christmas time is here! The holiday season doesn’t stop Mission U-Too from serving every week. What a great way to spread Christmas cheer and to proclaim the gospel. One of the best ways to proclaim the gospel is through serving others in practical ways. We have two Mission U-Too locations serving on Christmas Day. We’d love for you to come join us and help serve those in need for the holidays and be a blessing to your community!

Mission U-Too Locations:

Giddings: 190 N Harris in Giddings from 5:00-6:00 pm. Set up starts at 4:00.
Bastrop North: 603 Linden St in Bastrop from 5:00-6:00 pm. Set up starts at 4:00.

“Though he was in the form of God he did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”   ~Philippians 2:6-8

Be amazed at the ways Jesus has served his people. When you see Jesus serving you even to the point of death, you’ll be willing to serve others in radical ways.

Come be a part this year by serving in your community or join us by serving at one of the two listed locations. Have a blessed Christmas! We look forward to serving with you.

Molly serves every week at our Giddings location. Here is her story about the impact her life has had from building relationships through Mission U-Too.

Serving at Mission U-Too has been one of the best things to happen to me since moving to Texas almost 2 years ago. I remember so clearly the first night I was able to go, I ended up playing with all the kids that were there, chasing them around and laughing with them, giving them hugs and loving them. My heart had been aching for “little people” time and interaction, and God was so faithful to bring it at just the right time.

As I continued serving the people of Giddings, God began to stir my heart for them in a way I didn’t expect. So many of them were searching, I could see it in their eyes and the conversations I would have. Most of our prayer times at the end would leave me in tears because of stories I heard or just a desire for the people of my city to know the love of God through Jesus.

This past year I started going to Mission U-Too more frequently, being able to build relationships with the people there. God gave me opportunities to pray for people, love on the kids and even bring my guitar and play and sing while our guests came through the line.

Meet a Volunteer: Molly

In October of 2015, I met the Garcia family, a mom with four kids. They would come and get food and then go home, but eventually the three oldest kids would come and jump on the line to help serve while the mom would sit on the side with her 1 year-old son and just watch.

She was beautiful and her little boy was so precious. I felt an instant love for all of them and as I began talking with the mother, my heart swelled even more. She only spoke Spanish, but by the grace of God, I was able to hold conversations with her and sometimes her kids jumped in to help translate.

Meet a Volunteer: Molly

Meeting the Garcia family was a divine appointment. She immediately invited me to her home and I was able to go and visit and spend an afternoon with them, and have some of the most delicious food! Their life is not easy, but the strength God has given to them is astounding. They are so faithful to come and serve every Sunday, and now even the mother serves on the line! It’s so beautiful to see how God has put us together. He has loved me through them and I am so grateful for their friendship.

Serving at Mission U-Too Giddings has given me new eyes and perspective to see people through the lens of Jesus. God has broken my heart for the people of my community and has provided an avenue for me to take action and love them. I am forever grateful to be a part of this ministry. To God be the glory.
