Rebecca has been a huge part of Mission U-Too and we are so thankful for the countless hours she dedicates to helping lead and give to our communities. So many lives have been impacted through her.
Check out this Q&A with Rebecca as she shares a little about her experience volunteering with Mission U-Too.
Q&A: Rebecca Barker, Area Manager
How did you first hear about Mission U-Too?
I learned about Mission U-Too through church and my good friend, Jason Bray.
What made you want to get involved with Mission U-Too?
I was in a less than ideal place in my life and had just started going back to church. I really felt like God was leading me to get out of my house and get involved in some ministry/volunteer group.
How has Mission U-Too impacted your walk with God?
It’s changed me completely. When I first started I was extremely shy and did not like strangers or people, really. But through God and some great peers at Mission U-Too, I learned to serve, first the food, and then through building relationships with those we serve, and finally sharing my faith, God’s love for us.
What is your favorite thing about serving with Mission U-Too?
The people. I’ve made some good friends with many of those we’ve served. Those relationships have changed me, have truly enriched my life.
Can you share any individual stories of people you’ve seen impacted by coming to Mission U-Too?
There are so many. Allen who was once homeless who we were able to help, not just with the physical need but in continuing to walk alongside him, helping with various life issues. And Jason who talks openly about not believing in ‘all that Jesus stuff’ but who continues to come and allows us to pour into him and love him where he is.
